Frequently Asked Questions

1. WHY WON’T THE GOVERNMENT JUST MAIL ME MY MONEY?

Two primary answers exist for this: First the law requires that you apply for these funds along with the appropriate proofs that you are entitled to receive them. Secondly, the agency holding these funds may have tried, unsuccessfully, to alert you to these funds.

2. WHERE IS THIS MONEY BEING HELD?

After examining a variety of records from various sources, we categorize those records into one of three areas: Probate, Property, and Stale Checks. In probate we find missing and unknown heirs that have an inheritance due them. Most of these clients have absolutely no idea that they have inherited money. Property involves anything to do with property other than appealing the taxes. Usually it is some form of property tax overpayment, an unclaimed certificate of error or an overpayment of transfer taxes. Uncashed checks over six months since date of issuance comprise the stale check category.

3. HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?

It usually takes an additional four to five weeks to get everything in a proper position to file for the refund. Then we can apply for the refund. Once we apply for the refund it normally takes about eight to ten weeks to process the refund application. Therefore it takes about 15 weeks to complete the process.

4. WITH ALL OF THE ISSUES SURROUNDING IDENTITY THEFT, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT GIVING YOU CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION.

We share this concern and as such, we NEVER ask for information from our clients such as their social security number, credit/debit card numbers or bank account numbers.

5. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO START THE RECOVERY PROCESS?

Simply sign and return the agency agreement. You may fax it, mail it or email it back to us.

6. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT AMOUNT ACTUALLY GETS RECOVERED?

We send you a copy of the actual check we receive.

7. WHAT IF I HAVE TO RETURN THE REFUND?

While this very rarely happens, if the agency, which issued the refund requests that the money get returned to them, we will represent you to resolve their request. If we cannot persuade them that their request lacks merit, we will return our fee. Therefore, you will never lose money by retaining us!
